These are our Dexter cows. They are classified as a minature cow. The bull that you will see in these pictures only stands about 42 inches high. They originated in Ireland and are offically known as Irish Dexters. They are characterized by their mild temperment, easy calving (calves generally weighing about 25-30 lbs), milking ability, meat production, and in some cases as draft animals. They were originally bred as the all around cow for people with small holdings where everything had to do more than one job. The little calf at the end is the product of our red cow seen at the beginning and the polled bull that you see later. He is a polled bull that is looking for a new home. He will not be available for a while until he is weaned in about six months. |
